A Hudson’s Wedding – Amy-Lee & Brandon

Amy-Lee and Brandon celebrated their wedding at Hudson’s on 16^th February. Their bold, unique style was reflected throughout their reception with striking décor and statement features.

Venue & Food

The couple opted to hold their wedding ceremony at their church in Somerset West and celebrate with a reception afterwards in our loft venue.

“Hudson’s was the first venue we visited and it took our breath away. We loved the beautiful gardens and the elegant interior. We liked that we wouldn’t need a ton of décor to make the venue look beautiful – it was amazing as is. It was convenient that the flowers and table décor could be done in-house removing the stress of having to source things from different providers.”

More than 100 guests were treated to what can only be described as a feast! A plated starter of Thai crab cakes was followed by a generous buffet of hearty favourites such as roast leg of lamb, beef lasagne, roast potatoes and pumpkin fritters. Later in the evening we served a dessert buffet including four options and a candy buffet too!

Flowers & Décor

Amy-Lee & Brandon were set on an eye-catching palette of black and white with accents of rich gold. Mixed white blooms in a low, clear glass centerpiece and black napkins adorned with small posies of gypsophila and penny gum softened the monochromatic look. Gold votives and matching cutlery created a feeling of warmth and luxury.

“Even though we struggled initially to communicate our vision it was well interpreted and carried out. Everyone thought black and white would be boring but their jaws dropped when they saw how well executed it was by Hudson’s. I get giddy every time I think about how beautiful the décor was. It was everything we could have hoped for. The Dress

“Marrietta designs clothes for various occasions for both men and women. She is also a family friend which made it an obvious choice. Photography

We knew that Amy-Lee and Brandon would love the arresting, dramatic photography style that is synonymous with Nelis Engelbrecht and his brands. Their wedding translated beautifully through Light Lounge’s lens.

The cake

The couple’s cake formed the centerpiece of a candy table laden with treats. The theme prevailed here too with an unusual design.

“Gisela was recommended to us by a friend. She did an amazing job executing our cake. Everyone raved about the delicious cupcakes and cake pops that were part of our candy buffet table. The party

“DJ Dean was recommended by Hudson’s. He did an amazing job reading the crowd and as well as incorporating the music we chose and keeping the party going. Everyone, from young to old, was on the dance floor. We danced all night. We danced until we had to leave the venue. It was amazing!

We had a live acoustic band during the pre-drinks which created a nice relaxed but vibrant atmosphere while guests played lawn games supplied by Hudson’s.

DJ Dean recommended a photo booth service during our pre-drinks. They gave guests photos to take home and also supplied a beautiful guest book where guests could write a personal message alongside the fun photos they took. So many of them said that it was the most amazing wedding they’ve ever been to.
