We’re truly honoured every single time a couple chooses us to host their big day and entrusts us with their wedding planning.
We couldn’t be more excited to have begun this journey in July with Bianca Marais and her fiancé John Wight. Their date is set for March 2020. Bianca is a foundation phase teacher while John works offshore on the rigs. We asked Bianca to tell us more about them.
How did you meet?
Our story goes a way back. We officially met while I was a waitress at a golf club, but it wasn’t until 2013 when I bumped into John at a bar – not a place he would typically be – that we began to get to know each other. A year later we started surfing together. Surfing lead to lunches, lunches lead to movies and dinners and we fell in love. It was too bad I was leaving to go overseas for three months by the time this happened.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I missed him so much that I asked him to join me and he did! We travelled for three weeks together through Europe where he asked me out in the old fashioned way and we exchanged “I love you” for the first time.
What’s your engagement story?
John popped the question in August last year, the day before our official four year anniversary. It was a misty, rainy Sunday afternoon. We’d arranged a picnic with close friends at Chapman’s Peak. Things didn’t going according to John’s plan because of the weather. Our picnic was relocated to the Chapman’s peak cave. We were standing on the edge, taking photos, when all of a sudden he stepped away, got down on one knee and said “will you marry me”? I was in utter shock and said no about three times and asked why twice! When I finally came to realise what was actually happening I said YES!
How did you go about venue hunting?
Choosing our venue was the easiest decision I’ve ever had to make (besides saying yes to John). We were looking at venues online one night and came across Hudson’s. It had everything we wanted. A setting for a stunning garden ceremony and an elegant reception! We went to visit the venue the next day and loved it. The following week we took our moms for them to see as well and that evening we booked a date! It was rather impulsive.
Do you have any advice for couples still looking for venues?
I would say follow your instinct. If you fall in love with a venue, book it. When choosing a venue, make sure to look at all of the costs including table décor, catering and any “hidden costs”.
What part of your wedding are you most looking forward to?
I am excited to walk down the aisle to the man of my dreams. Every woman deserves a John in their life! I am looking forward to all of the moments I get to share with my man and making our memories – from our first dance, to cutting the cake and our photo session. I’m also looking forward to simply having all our special guests take part in our day.
We can’t wait to host Bianca & John’s big day. To get excited about planning your wedding with us get in touch to schedule a viewing.
