Leigh-Ann Conroy and Gershwyn Khan have recently given up their sea legs for jobs on land.
They are both now working out of South Africa for a New York based jewellery company. Amongst settling down in their home country and gathering a fur family they are planning their wedding at Hudson’s which will make place in March 2019.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]How did you meet?
Leigh-Ann: We were both working on cruise ships. I started working on Princess cruise line in May 2010 and Gershwyn started in June 2008. We finally met in July 2012 while working on the Coral Princess cruising to Alaska. We were set up by our mutual friends which resulted in a first date. I was head over heels from day one while Gershwyn definitely played hard to get. I used to plan to go on lunch breaks to coincide with Gershwyn’s, made sure I was at all of the parties he attended and finally wore him down! We have been sailing on the same cruise ship, working side by side, ever since.
What’s your engagement story?
Gershwyn had asked my parents for their blessing weeks before popping the question, which I had a sneaky suspicion about. He decided that the right time would be when we had a night in Miami, USA. After an amazing dinner we took a walk by the pool. It was the perfect – the sun was setting and there was no one around.
How did you go about venue hunting?
It was a bit daunting when we first started. There was a lot to think about. Which location do we choose? Should there be accommodation? Should we have the ceremony and the reception at the same place? These were the questions that we were trying to sort through for weeks. We had been searching for venues for a while when we were invited to a friend’s wedding at Hudson’s. To say we were blown away by the wedding would be an understatement. The venue and surroundings were absolutely beautiful. I could imagine taking our wedding pictures in the garden. Everything about the wedding was simply dreamy. From that day the venue search was over. We knew that Hudson’s was where we wanted to get married. The team made us feel relaxed from the beginning – from first tour to deciding on a date and even which of their two venues to choose. It was so easy to say yes to this venue!
Do you have any advice for couples still looking for venues?
The biggest piece of advice we could offer is to choose a venue that will take care of everything for you. This is another reason we chose Hudson’s. The food, décor and flowers, ceremony, bar facilities and so on are all in one place. There is no phoning around, hunting down suppliers or outsourcing anything. This has made the entire process of planning a wedding, even from overseas, stress free and easy.
What part of your wedding are you most looking forward to?
The ceremony next to the lake as well as the photo shoot in the garden. I know the ceremony is what we will remember the most and the pictures in the gorgeous surroundings will capture all of that excitement. I am already imaging myself walking down the aisle in my dress.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We are delighted to be hosting Leigh-Ann and Gershwin’s big day.
