Tammy is a breath of fresh air. She and her lovely mom, Jackie, were so obviously completely excited to be planning this day together.

From the minute we walked into Hudson’s I was swept back to my late grandparents’ farm in Zimbabwe – the green lawn that went on forever, big rocks, the smell, variety of flowers and the dam glistening in the sunlight with the backdrop of those magnificent mountains. I felt like I was home! I knew immediately that this was where I wanted to get married. Indoors, the twinkling lights, beautiful chandelier, roaring fire and big mirror made me feel like I was walking into a magical ballroom. I was so excited to have our first dance as a married couple in that venue. I could not have chosen better.
Outstanding is a word that I would use to describe the food. Everything from the canapés to the dessert was delicious. I still, months later, have guests telling me that the food was the best they have ever experienced. I heard that as the bride and groom you never get to eat but after our tasting we knew that we were not going to miss out on this stunning food! I had the most beautiful flowers and décor! When my mom and I arrived for our first meeting I had a few ideas as I had seen one of Hudson’s mock tables at a wedding expo which I loved. It completely captured what I wanted. Simple and elegant but with a mystical, magical feel. However I didn’t have any idea as to what else was involved. Without Hudson’s fabulous team I would have fallen short. They were so helpful. I met Nikolai at a wedding expo. I immediately loved his portfolio and the friendly but professional way he chatted to me. I contacted him soon after to book and it was one of my best decisions. He met with me more than once and understood exactly what I was looking for. On the day, not only did he make my husband and I look like a million dollars but he was so calm even though I was anxious about the rainy weather. I had always dreamed about having a fairy tale wedding gown. My mom and I made an appointment at Bride & Co. I tried on only four dresses and I knew immediately that this was my dress. My mom and I both shed a tear and I bought it there and then. I felt like a princess.
I am so happy that I found Minke – the most talented make-up and hair designer. She has an amazing aura that makes you feel special and puts you at ease immediately. She was able to make me look like a film star! It is quite a difficult and personal thing to find the right person to marry you. This is someone who has the ability to ruin the most important part of your wedding! Matthew made our ceremony absolutely perfect. From the moment we met him he just “got us”. You can see he has a passion for what he does. We are so delighted that we were able to secure DJ Dean for our wedding. From the moment we made contact with him he was so friendly, helpful and organised. You can tell he has a vast amount of experience. I felt incredibly relieved to have him in charge of such an important part of our wedding. He read the crowd and the dance floor was packed at all times. Susan was able to recreate our wedding cake from a picture I supplied. It was absolutely delicious. The weight I had lost from “wedding stress” was soon put back on as my husband and I ate almost the whole cake! As animal lovers it was an easy choice to support the Purple Kennel Project. They build and distribute kennels throughout the Western Cape via rescue organisations to animals in need. We decided to donate a kennel on behalf of each wedding table in lieu of favours. They sent through a certificate of each kennel with the table number and a picture of the eternally grateful dogs. We believed that rather than buying something most people do not need or want this wedding favour had the ability to keep on giving. When we are warm on a cold evening we often think about the dogs that now have shelter too. Our journey is an absolute miracle and we are so blessed to have found each other. We want to thank Hudson’s and their team in particular for everything. They were amazing to work with and nothing was ever too much trouble. They went above and beyond. Our wedding was the best day of our lives.
